Thanksgiving in the Classroom!!

Gobble Gobble friends!!!

Welcome back to my blog! I am here to bring you some goodies for Thanksgiving!
I would like to share with you what I used to do on that week before our days off. Every year my team and I would have outfits for our students to dress as Pilgrims or Native Americans. We would study all week about why we celebrate Thanksgiving and on Friday we would all watch "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and have a big feast to simulate the movie.

We would make snack bags for each student. We would include popcorn, mini toasts, pretzel sticks, and M&Ms.

The kids always had a great time watching Charlie Brown and sitting to eat their snack "just like the movie"! We all enjoyed each other's company and had fun!

I would also like to share a Freebie I had created for you to use during these days. Thanksgiving is all about being thankful and share with others these special moments. I created a very simple, but cute Turkey bag where students can write what they are thankful for. This freebie comes in both English and Spanish! You can print the feathers in color construction paper or have fun with some Fall looking pattern paper!

Easter bunnies are ready for you!!! Freebie and a Unit!

Hello everyone!!!
Can you believe we are already posting about bunnies and Easter eggs?!

OMG Where has time gone?! Last year as I was posting this, I was about to have a baby boy, plus having an almost two year old daughter... Now I am about to have a THREE-YEAR-OLD daughter and a ONE-YEAR-OLD son! :'( Let me cry a little bit!!!!

Anyhow! Enough of that! right?!

I would like to share with you once again my freebie! On this activity, two students can work together or independently. Each get a bunny with a wheeler; they spin it and mark on their laminated graph with a dry-erase marker. They stop spinning once any of the items have reached the top. MAKE SURE THEY DON'T ERASE THEIR RESULTS, THEY'LL BE USING IT ON THEIR BOOKLET.
Next, students record their result on the paper graph. Once they finished recording it on the graph sheet (they need to color the eggs as well), they can start writing their conclusions on the question section. Once they are finished with all the work, they can work on their booklet by coloring the front cover.

I also wanted to share with ya'll my Chick Craftivity freebie. I created this little friend a while back when I taught second grade. We read books and different facts about chickens. Then, my students took notes and wrote about different things they have learned about the life cycle of a chicken. As I said, this was created for second grade; However, this would be perfect for any project you do in your classroom! If you would like to read more about it click HERE to take you to my post :)

I also have a snowman craft. This is perfect to use along with the book "Snowmen at Night". Honestly, you can use it for anything you want! You will need a contact paper to give that transparent effect. There are some specific directions in the document on how to give this effect to it :)  If you don't want that, I also included a solid circle to it so you can use it too.

Pictographs and Monster Crafts!

Heellooooooo!!! Welcome back everyone!
Today I'd like to share with you some of the pictographs my students worked on their interactive journal. This was around Halloween, so I let them use my stickers to create their own :)
These pictures show when we were reviewing bar graphs and starting to compare them with pictographs....

My fantastic team partner gave me this idea... After talking and comparing the two types of bars, students did their own poll... They created their topic, their options so others can vote... Then, they went around the room to ask their classmates and record their answers by creating a tally mark chart... After they finished with the Tally Mark Chart, they proceeded to create their pictograph (including a key), and their bar graph....

    

 

My students did have a great time creating their own graphs. There were very engaged and had a great time working on their own bar graphs...

I would also like to share with you my new product! I am so excited to show you these little fellas! You probably would say I have a lot of favorite things.. so just to add more favorite thing to my list... monsters are one of them! 

I have a whole unit about monster on my to do list that I promise I will get to finish sooner or later, but for now I am very happy I was able to create these monster crafts!

I also included a writing sheet with a title "My monster" and "Mi monstruo" for students to write about their own monster! These are available in my store, so click HERE to take you there...

Linky Party - Have you heard of Beekle? I just felt in love with this book!

Today I am really excited to share this freebie with you! :) Like most of you know, I am currently staying home with my daughter and expecting baby #2 in May (EEKKKK!!!!). However, since "Pollita" has been older and more active now, I try taking her to different places to socialize. That also means I get to socialize! I had a few great opportunities at the school I used to teach to do some volunteering at the library! I have done some read aloud sessions and the last time I was there I volunteered during the best time of the year, book fair!

During my volunteering hours, I got to see so many new books that I couldn't resist to buy them! I even had to go through them three times because I was basically taking wayyy too many! (sounds familiar to any of you?) Anyhow, while I was pulling them out to build this huge tower of books, there was this book that caught my attention! This caldecott awarded book (they always get my attention!), named "Beekle." The front cover "was starring at me" and whispering to me "take me!". So I asked my friend, who is the librarian about it and she couldn't say anything bad about the story! I automatically started to read it and I could NOT just leave it there by itself! So I brought it home with me :) The ideas of what things I could do with this new friend and imagining how I could use it in my classroom wouldn't stop running through my head!

I am trying to do more than two things at the same time now (sounds familiar to any of you?) so my post will be very short and to the point :)
I want to share with you what might be a good activity for the upcoming days in March for those little ones and maybe up to 3rd grade if you still do rhyming :)

I have a UNIT SAMPLE for FREE! I have a memory game for rhyming words. This game can be played by 2 or more than 2 students on their own or you can even use it during small groups if that's one of the focus lesson you have. I can think about a whole class demonstration as well if it's needed. Nevertheless, I think this simple and yet fun game can be a good fit for your class! :)

After I created a sample, I knew I had to do a whole THEME UNIT. So, here is my unit with different centers for both Math and ELA/SLAR.
Both of the packets (Spanish and English) contains the following centers:
[1] Nouns vs. Verbs: instructions, 20 cards, answer key and activity sheet to give as an independent activity or use as an assessment.
[2] ABC order, 15 cards, instructions, answer key, and sheet to record their work.
[3] Writing Craftivity: Write about your favorite birthday and create a fun birthday cake!

Math:
[1] Fishy Probability: Mini cards to laminate and cut, instructions, Probability sheets, and Probability answer sheet.
[2] I knew it was true: addition and subtraction cards (with regrouping and without regrouping), instructions, 20 cards, answer key, and activity sheet to give as an independent activity or use as an assessment.
[3] Hooray for Arrays!: 20 cards (10 sets), instructions, and recording sheet to show work or use as an assessment.

Before I let you all go, I wanted to share with you quickly just an oldie, but a goodie activity I did with my students before. Because we are not allowed to create anything relate to Seuss or anything like that to put it up on a selling website, I decided to make something with the products they provide at their own website! I got the patterns from Seussville on this link: http://www.seussville.com/Educators/educatorClassroomResources.php?id=printables#6 

They have tons of different sheets and activities you can use :) I used the "Elephant Ears" sheet from there. The face of the elephant I just kinda drew it at that moment, but again, because we can't create anything to share, I don't even think I saved it (so sorry!). To make the dust speck, I got a bunch of green pipe cleaners and some sparkly pom-poms. My students colored the elephant and they cut and paste true/false statements based on the book. I think they would have came up better if we only used gray construction paper, but I really wanted them to do some coloring and make these their own, instead of just cutting and gluing. Here is a picture of what they looked like! I was really happy how they turned out :)

As I promised my friends, I am back with some goodies for Valentine's day!! :)

First, I wanted to share a freebie I posted last year. I think Mr. Heart came out really cute! Your students could write a letter to another friend in the classroom, or write about what they like about Valentine's or write about a favorite part of a valentine's story! Your choice, the options are endless!!! PLUS, I think they would look so cute on a bulletin board, don't you think??

So after Mr. Heart, I felt pretty cool, but this year I made a HUGE mistake... wait for it, you'll understand what I mean.... 

Everything started with my husband and I reorganizing our home office, it needed A LOT of organization. We had great and new furniture, but we still had so much stuff that needed to be put away and even thrown away... So our goal for this new year and before baby boy comes, was to finish this home office. So we went to Ikea (another huge mistake) and I'm happy to say we are almost done with it! We are so happy we are almost there in less than a month! Sooooo with all these ideas from Ikea and Pinterest, I decided to go to Hobby Lobby (for those that don't have one, this is like a Michael's store or a craft store if you must know), you see now what I meannnnn??? I just went to get some mini jars to storage small erasers and small items that needed to be away from my "Pollita" (did I mention my desk drawers are completely empty because she likes pulling everything out??).

But then I said to myself, "why don't you stop by the scrapbooking papers to see what's new? You are JUST GONNA SEE!" YEAH RIGHT!!!!

I found these AMAZING pattern paper that I HAD to buy!!!! Don't you agree with me???

So after a few hours thinking what cute things I can do with these papers, I thought about a real envelope that kids can do! I'm HORRIBLE with origami, so I hope you are not expecting that! HA!

I looked on Google for EASY ways to make an envelope, and I found soooo many options! Most of them were too hard for this teacher :| 

I found this great website where there are many different templates, but I didn't want to go that far at this time, I just wanted simple steps and not having to make copies of the pattern and cut and so on... HOWEVER, if you would like to check it out, please DO! She really has great ideas different websites for different types of envelopes! Click HERE to take you there :)

I also found this picture with steps on how to do an envelope from a heart shape. So I thought it would be cute for students to write a short note on the back of the heart (the blank side), make the envelope, and just glue it with a foam sticker or something that when you open it, you would open the whole letter at once!

Here are my pictures and how my envelope came up :) Not so perfect, but I think it would do the trick...

Then, I found this picture, I thought it was pretty simple and the steps were pretty clear, so I gave it a try.. I am NOT good at any of these things, so believe me if I tell you, if I can do it so can you! I got this picture from Making Friends

I personally skipped the pattern and I tried to skip steps that I saw they were not a big deal. Mine didn't come up as perfect as it shows on the picture (of course, that happens when you skip steps on the instructions! Lol). However, I think for students and the purpose of it, it was pretty good! :)

So along with this cute envelope, I created a Free letter pattern for kids to write a letter to a friend.... I think the best way to do this (so everyone gets a letter and no one gets more than anyone else), might be for them to choose a partner or you can even choose partners randomly!
